FEED TORONTO

After the Covid-19 crisis, it became evident that the need for support and assistance remained, even though the pandemic had ended. Steve Kidron, the owner of Kitchen 24, recognized this continued necessity. Despite businesses reopening and people gradually returning to work, there were still individuals facing challenges. Unemployment rates persisted, and some community support organizations had not fully recovered. It was clear that the ongoing provision of food remained essential.

Help Feed Toronto’s Vulnerable

During the Covid-19 crisis, Steve Kidron, the owner of Kitchen 24, recognized a pressing need. With businesses shutting down, community support dwindling, and unemployment rates rising, he knew that people were facing food insecurity. Steve’s personal experience with hunger and poverty drove him to take action. He began self-funding the preparation of meals on a daily basis to ensure that no one in Toronto went hungry during this difficult time.

To date, we have partnered with over 40 community organizations and provided more than 30,000 meals to those in need. However, even after the pandemic subsides, it has become evident that there is an ongoing need. Many vulnerable residents in Toronto and the surrounding areas have lost access to social services and basic necessities due to the long-lasting effects of COVID-19. Kitchen 24 remains committed to being part of the solution by utilizing our space, volunteers, and resources to provide food to those who need it the most.

Since the start of the quarantine, we have been producing and donating 500-700 cooked meals daily to nursing homes and shelters within our community. Our goal is to continue serving our community and meeting their needs. However, we recognize that 500 meals are not sufficient. Our facility has the capacity to produce more meals, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. We plan to keep going as long as there are people in need of nourishment during this pandemic.

To achieve our mission, we have set a fundraising goal of $15,000. This will enable us to create thousands of meals to feed the Greater Toronto Area (GTA). Whether individuals are struggling due to COVID-19 or pre-existing circumstances, we need your support to reach everyone in need.

As the largest shared kitchen in Ontario, we have the advantage of practicing social distancing among our volunteers while efficiently producing nutritious meals at a low cost. We understand that food banks are facing challenges due to health and safety concerns. However, our facility can overcome these obstacles and become the central hub for mass-producing and distributing meals to everyone in our community.

Kitchen 24 is a labor of love, entirely operated by dedicated volunteers. This means that all donations go directly toward feeding those who need it. We rely on the generosity of individuals like you to help us make a difference in the lives of our community members.

Your entire donation goes directly towards feeding those who need it.
